Android Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael
Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael
What is even more exciting is that along with the official shots that have obviously popped up a little prematurely, we also received a short video-demo of the Sony Ericsson Rachael UI.
The original resolution of the video is 852 x 480 pixels, which suggests that this will also be the resolution of the Rachael display. Coming with the sweet 16:9 aspect ratio this is the highest resolution screen we have seen so far on a mobile phone.
It seems that Sony Ericsson have put some extra hard work in customizing the Android UI, adding some nice touches of their own. Messaging and social-network integration is pretty duly covered, as suits a full QWERTY-enabled handset.
In case you need a quick memory refresh of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Rachael features known so far, here it goes. The phone is based on the Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon platform that provides a 1GHz CPU and dedicated graphics acceleration. The connectivity options of the chipset are also top-notch with Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G with HSDPA all onboard.
The fully-touch operated phone comes complete with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera, a 3.5 mm jack and a standard miniUSB jack. Probably the best part of the Sony Ericsson Rachael is its 4″ touchscreen.
Sony Ericsson T707a
Sony just announced their new cellphone Sony Ericsson T707a, which is a very eyeball-drawing cellphone in 2009, now more and more people begin to talk about it. So here we are going to discuss Sony Ericsson T707a, and see how wonderful it is.
The most cool thing about Sony Ericsson T707a is it has a stylish clamshell with light effects that glow when calls are received and gesture control to end calls and snooze the alarm. This is the most important reason people love it like crazy.
Sony Ericsson T707 will offer three color variants (Mystic Black, Spring Pink, Bright Blue). It also has a 2.2-inch main TFT display with QVGA resolution and a monochrome OLED additional one. The device also has a 3.2MP camera (capable of photo and video blogging), along with an FM radio with RDS. This is very good for those who are interested in multimedia.
What’s better, photos taken with its 3.2-megapixel camera can be uploaded to social networking sites using the HTML web browser. So you can upload your cool photos to your web blog any time you want.
Sony Ericsson T707a has these cool features:
* Give best friends their own, unique pulsating light effects and when a call from one of them comes in, users will know who it is in a flash
* Gesture Control lets users mute an incoming call or snooze the alarm by simply sweeping a hand over the phone
* Capture life as it happens with the 3.2-megapixel camera
* Share photos with friends or post pictures on a blog with just a few clicks
* The Day and Night theme makes the desktop and menus in the phone change as day turns to night
We have to wait some time, because The Sony Ericsson T707a will be available in the second quarter. Since there are so many people crazy about it, I think they should allow pre-order, but I haven’t known that. Hope they will do that.

This is great, but what’s not so great is that some applications are slow to start up the first time, and the phone itself takes an age to switch on. If you are the kind of person who likes to turn their mobile off overnight to save battery power, the long morning startup could irritate.
Now, what about the camera? You can get more detail by checking out our separate W960i camera review for the full gen, but suffice it to say here that the camera is adequate, if not hugely capable. The 3.2-megapixel lens is a fair way behind the top end these days, but there is autofocus and a macro mode, while a reasonably good double-strength photo light helps things along.

Sony Ericsson W710i
Sony Ericsson’s latest cellphone, the W710i clamshell, combines your typical Walkman phone functions with fitness applications that include a pedometer, calorie counter and a timer that records your run’s lap times and average speed. The pedometer, once started, works in the background and discretely displays the number of steps you’ve taken in the external LCD. You can fire it up in the morning, slip this compact clamshell in your pocket, and go about your day’s business. When you finally get home, you can check how far you’ve walked during the day, as well the number of calories you’ve burnt.
The outer display also displays the tracks currently playing when in Walkman mode. Surrounding it are rubberized buttons to control the player’s functions. Sound quality was excellent via the slightly uncomfortable earphones. The W710i also supports A2DP via Bluetooth – so this should work perfectly with most Bluetooth stereo headsets. It’s a good thing Sony Ericsson ships the handset with a 512MB M2 stick – as the 16MB of internal memory just isn’t enough.
The other nit of the phone includes a 2-megapixel snapper . While pics look great on the sharp 262k-color display, once transferred to a PC, image noise becomes evident. This is further exacerbated when shooting indoors, or in low light.
That’s not to say that the W710i is a bad phone. On the contrary, it’s a good – but not great – phone. While multimedia performance is up to par with the rest of the Walkman phone range, it’s just a shame the W710i’s camera can’t quite keep in step.
