Globe goes 3G
Globe goes 3G too. Their target is the second quarter of 2006. At present, existing 3G services (from SMART) are already available and still free. One can watch streaming videos to their hearts content or until cell phone’s battery life runs out.

You might be unaware that the technology to track cellphones have been around for quite some time. Althought it would definitely be wiser not to have your cellphone stolen in the first place, it does occur. Popular tracking applications are the SMART WIS and GLOBE tracker function.� Essentially, the technology triangulates the location of the mobile device based on the nearest set of cell stations. I’ve actually seen the technology first hand since I worked for a company called findme.com before. It’s an interesting application of mobile technologies.
It hasn’t been hyped too much since it also allows many women to track the whereabouts of their husbands/boyfriends.� Careful how you use it, ladies. =)

The National Telecommunications Commission apparently awarded 3G licenses to the Telcos without holding an open tender or bidding. This presents legal problems and a local lawmaker wants to have the licenses revoked.
